The path runs along the Görnitzbach, which rises in Schöneck and flows into the Weisse Elster in Oelsnitz. This area is also called Neunmühlental - as nine mills once stood here. Starting with the Haselmühle, through Muckenmühle, Zahnmühle and Kornmühle to the Spitzmühle near Arnoldsgrün, most of these were in the upper section of our path. Only the tooth mill is still in use today and operated as a sawmill. The Spitzmühle is currently a residential and holiday home.

Author’s recommendation

Right on the way, about 1.5 km after the start, you will find the Leuchtmooshöhle in the forest - a legendary place and former mine on the outskirts of Schöneck.

Turn-by-turn directions

We start our hiking tour at the lookout rock "Alter Söll" and follow the blue markings along the forest road to Haselmühle. Directly opposite the leisure facility we turn off and stay on the blue marked path, following the Görnitzbach, we come to Korna. From here we follow the yellow marking that leads us to Arnoldsgrün. From the center of the village the marking changes to green - the path now leads in the direction of Schilbach. We follow him and reach Schilbach. It is worth taking a short detour to the village community center, where a small playground and benches invite you to linger. Strengthened it goes back to the green marked hiking trail and over the settlement "Birkenhäuser" back to Schöneck.
