The double city in the Vogtland’s Mühlenviertel (milling region).
It was only in January 2013 that Pausa and Mühltroff became a double city, complete with the districts of Ebersgrün, Kornbach, Langenbach, Linda, Ranspach, Thierbach, Unterreichenau and Wallengrün. The history of both towns can be traced back to the 13th century, and they are closely connected to the traditional milling industry of the region.
In the Middle Ages, lots of watermills and a few windmills dotted the entire region around Pausa-Mühltroff, and for those interested, the “Müllerburschen Weg” is a great place to start looking for traces of them. Only a few mills remain today, but those that do have been lovingly renovated into restaurants that cater to your needs in the middle of the countryside.
