The town of Münchenbernsdorf, which is situated in eastern Thuringia near to the BAB 9/ BAB 4 interchange and with a direct connection to the BAB 9 (highway junction Lederhose), is a small city with approximately 3,000 inhabitants. The town was shaped by the Thuringian carpet industry. Due to its surrounding landscape, however, the agricultural industry is also an important factor. The mining, machine technology, machine production and specific accessories industries are also represented in Münchenbernsdorf. The small town is influenced in a variety of ways by the trades and other small and medium-sized businesses.
Münchenbernsdorf has one kindergarten, an elementary school including a day care center, as well as a regular school. Beyond that, a youth club, library and cultural centre complete with rooms of different sizes are available for club meetings and diverse recreational activities. During the summer season, a visit to the outdoor swimming pool is worth a visit.
