Winter holidays

Winter im Vogtland Gottesberg
Whether alpine skiing, cross-country skiing trails, snowboarding, sledding, ice skating or winter hiking - here in the Vogtland everyone will find their own personal winter pleasure. When the landscape turns into a wonderland of snow-covered meadows and forests in winter, sports enthusiasts and nature lovers alike are thrilled. The high-altitude ski regions in particular are perfectly prepared for action-packed skiing fun with well-tracked cross-country trails, extensive pistes and modern ski lifts.

Winter sports in the Vogtland

The Vogtland is a popular destination for winter sports, offering excellent conditions at its ski resorts and cross-country skiing areas.

For those wanting to be active, an extensive 450km network of slopes and cross-country ski tracks can be found at the downhill ski resorts in Schöneck, at the Erlbacher Kegelberg and in Klingenthal, as well as in the skiing and sportive region of the Upper Vogtland. Grünbach/ Muldenberg is home to a year-round cross-country ski track, which can be used well into the evening due to floodlights.

The 36km-long Kammloipe along the ridge between Schöneck in the Vogtland and Johanngeorgenstadt in the Erzgebirge is one of the longest and most beautiful tracks in Germany where snow is most likely guaranteed.

Sparkasse Vogtland Arena Klingenthal

The Vogtland Arena in Klingenthal is one of the most popular destinations in the Vogtland. The impressive, light and modern architecture of the large hill and the judges' tower will also inspire you.

After entering the grounds, the multifunctional heart of the Sparkasse Vogtland Arena opens up before you - the two-hectare event area in the run-out area. The arena can hold up to 33,000 spectators. Your way leads you past the ski jump run-out area to the "WieLi" adventure railway, which takes you comfortably to the ski jump tower. Once you have reached the top, the highlight of your visit to the ski jump awaits you: the impressive panoramic view from the viewing platform and from the capsule of the inrun tower. During the competitions, the capsule serves as a warming room for the athletes. Instead of taking you through the air, the "WieLi" brings you safely back down to the valley on rails.

Off the slopes - snowshoe hiking in the Vogtland region

Snowshoeing is sporty hiking with snowshoes. In the style of the Eskimos, it goes cross-country through the deep snow-covered forests and over fields of the Upper Vogtland. The snowshoes prevent you from sinking into the snow, so that even remote forests and clearings can be explored. The pace can be individually determined - from a leisurely walk to a fast run, everything is possible with the snowshoes. Depending on the snow conditions, snowshoeing can be quite easy or (in wet snow) very strenuous - in any case a good workout for the body.
