In the Vogtland you will find the world's two largest brick bridges, which have been the railway connection between Saxony and Bavaria for over 150 years. 80,000 visitors alone marvel at the Göltzsch Viaduct every year. This scenically unique region offers rail enthusiasts attractive routes: the Elstertalbahn from Gera and Eger (Czech Republic).

Elster Valley Railway
The Elster Valley Railway is the train route with the highest number of bridges in Europe. It leads from Gera, Thuringia, to the Czech Republic and is around 120 kilometers long, with 30 train stations and stops as well as 140 years of tradition. The train route offers passengers a fantastic natural backdrop along the river "White Elster" at all times of the year with attractive tourist highlights to Vogtland and Egerland county (Czech Republic).
The traditional spa towns of Bad Elster, Bad Brambach and Franzensbad are also on this route. The romantic river valley of the White Elster is perfect for long walks, exciting hikes or eventful bike tours. The bike can also be transported in the Vogtlandbahn. A really rare flora and fauna has been preserved in untouched nature. The Vogtland Panorama Weg® and the Elsterperlenweg® accompany the river. Further information is available from the Vogtland transport association.
