Royal Complex Bad Elster – Historical Spa Architecture as a Living Work of Art

The Saxon royal family regularly spent their summers in the Royal Saxon State Spa Bad Elster, a magnificent jewel of Saxon history.

Even today, the very attractive symbiosis of impressive spa architecture of the bright royal complex of the spa and the spa park, which was designed by one of Europe’s most important landscape architects, enthrals the numerous visitors. The town centre of Bad Elster is stylistically characterized by the “Gründerjahre” of the late 19th century with the palace-like Albert Bad, which was build in 1909/1910 in the Jugendstil and has a particularly attractive interior, as well as the famous King Albert Theatre, one of the most magnificent court theatres ever.

Amidst the architecturally beautiful park of the Saxon Bath Museum and the KunstWandelhalle with its famous Moritz mineral spring, the marvellous Brunnentempel of the Marien mineral spring, the representative Royal Kurhaus and the three bandstands are arranged around this pleasing focal point along the “shortest festival mile”, which hosts more than 1000 cultural events annually.

Additionally, jewels such as the impressive sculpture park, the NaturTheater, the Chapel of the Holy Cross (Kreuzkapelle), the historic refuges in the beautifully situated forest park or Bad Elster’s famous rhododendron flower delight the numerous guests from near and far.
