The oldest house in Triebes is an architectural gem dating back to the days of the Thirty Years’ War.
The Thirty Years’ War was just around the corner when the building was built in 1617 as a cartwright workshop in Triebes. As the oldest preserved house of its kind, the “Winkelmannsche Haus” is an important historic monument in the region. In addition to the residential building from 1740, which also remains intact, stables and a barn once belonged to the property, but no longer exist nowadays.
A functional cartwright workshop with many original tools is open to the public and provided insight into a trade that has vanished.
